The 50m outdoor pool at Fitzroy is now open with bookings required. All other pools remain closed.
On Sunday 27 September the Victorian Government confirmed outdoor pools can reopen on Monday 28 September, in line with step 2 of their roadmap to reopening.
So, when are the pools reopening?
- The outdoor pool at Fitzroy Swimming Pool is now open for lap swimming and water exercise and rehabilitation.
- All indoor pools will remain closed until further notice, we currently do not have a confirmed reopening date but will update this page as soon as we know.
What will the opening hours be at Fitzroy Swimming Pool?
- Monday to Friday: 6am to 9pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 7am to 7pm
What will a swim session look like?
- 45 minute sessions
- 30 swimmers in the venue at one time
- You must maintain 1.5 metres distance between other patrons and staff at all times
- You must wear a mask in the venue – only remove your mask when you’re about to enter the pool
- Practise good hygiene before, during and after your swim session
- You must follow the advice and instruction of staff at all times
- Bookings only via our customer portal, no walk-ins.
How much is a swim session?
- Adult: $7.30
- Concession: $4.30
- Youth: (14 to 17 years): $3.70
- Adult: $4.30
- Concession: $2.20
- Youth: (14 to 17 years): $2.20
What is Water Exercise and Rehabilitation?
Water Exercise and Rehabilitation is for activities such as walking, running or rehabilitation exercises.
You do not need to book into a specified session, just book a swim session as we'll be allocating lanes for this purpose.
What is a supported access booking?
Supported access bookings are for customers with disability or those who need the pool to manage a health condition for their physical wellbeing and who are unable to secure a spot.
The purpose of these spots is to offer fair and equitable access to those who need it most.
Please note, there will be a limit of 2 bookings per person per week (Tuesday to Monday).
Are supported access bookings available for every session?
Yes, we are offering 2 spots in each swim session, each day – that's 198 per week!
I need a carer, do I need to book them in?
Yes, if you need a carer you must also book them in for free over the phone. Your carer will be included in our capacity limit, even if they do not enter the pool.
How do I make a supported access booking?
These spots are only bookable by calling us on 9205 5522.
How do I book?
Bookings are now open for the 50m outdoor pool at Fitzroy and must be made online. No walk-ins will be accepted.

What amenities are available?
All amenities except our toilets on pool deck will be closed until further advice from the government. This means you will not be able to use change rooms or showers and must dress appropriately for this.
Can I swim at Fitzroy if I live or work further than 25kms away?
No, only people who live or work within a 25km radius of Fitzroy Swimming Pool will be able to attend for lap swimming or water exercise and rehabilitation. Please make sure you are complying with Victorian Government travel restrictions, as this is being enforced by Victoria Police.
When will swimming lessons resume?
Usually at this time, term 4 swimming lessons would be well and truly under way. Yep, our pools would be full of splashing, laughing and learning - and just like you, we wish that was the case. At this stage, we don't have any indication from the Victorian Government about when we'll be able to resume swimming lessons.
What will lessons look like when they resume?
We've been working on a plan for when we can finally resume swimming lessons! In early July we ran a survey to get an idea of what you'd like to see in a modified swim program and through your feedback we gained some valuable insights. We're now using these survey results to plan our return to lessons in the future. We'll have more information about what we think that will look like soon.
What will happen with current enrolments?
Whether you're enrolled upfront or via direct debit, your enrolment is currently paused and you will not be charged during this period.
Your enrolment will remain paused until our full Learn to Swim program returns, we will give you plenty of notice before we resume payments.
