Open age squads

We offer squad sessions for all ages and levels at Collingwood, Fitzroy and Richmond.

Open Age Squads offer:

  • qualified coaches
  • multiple weekly squad sessions
  • a multi-level program
  • annual training program with holiday breaks
  • dry land and resistance training
  • unlimited use of our pools outside of session times.

What levels do you have?

Pre State

Pre State

Pre-State Squad is for people who want to develop the strokes and techniques used in competitive swimming. We focus on improving personal best times and working towards state qualifying times.

We encourage Pre-State swimmers to compete throughout the year.

9 swim squad sessions run Monday to Saturday. We suggest you attend 3-4 each week. Training sessions are at Collingwood, Fitzroy and Richmond.

Dry land sessions run for Pre-State swimmers.

Fortnightly debit fees:

  • Full fee $44.50
  • Concession $26.70.
State

State

State Squad focuses on stroke skills and techniques at the elite level.

We encourage State swimmers to compete at State level and aim for National qualifying times.

10 State squad sessions and 3 dry land sessions run from Monday to Saturday. We suggest you attend 5-6 each week. Training sessions are at Collingwood, Fitzroy and Richmond.

Fortnightly debit fees:

  • Full fee $57.50
  • Concession $34.50.
National

National

National Squad is for swimmers aiming for National Championship qualifying times.

National Squad swimmers receive a Yarra Leisure gym membership.

10 swim squad sessions and 3 dry land sessions run Monday to Saturday. We suggest you attend 8-9 each week. Training sessions are at Collingwood, Fitzroy and Richmond.

Fortnightly debit fees:

  • Full fee $68.80
  • Concession N/A.

What equipment do I need?

All squad swimmers require their own swim cap, goggles and water bottle.

Swimmers also use a variety of equipment during their squad sessions. Equipment in training is vital for a swimmer's development and progression through squad levels.

Please note that while there are a limited number of kick boards and pull buoys for available use at our venues, purchase of the items listed below is encouraged. This ensures consistency in training and the development of all swimmers in the program.

Join a swimming club

Inner City Aquatic

Inner City Aquatic (ICA) is the recently merged Collingwood Swimming Club and Richmond Swimming Club. ICA is affiliated with Swimming Victoria. ICA coaches are all Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association accredited.

ICA promotes swimming for health and as a competitive sport for school aged and adult swimmers of all abilities. Many ICA swimmers have succeeded at State and National level.

Yarra Roughies

Yarra Roughies Masters Swimming Club swim at Fitzroy Swimming Pool. Yarra Roughies is for adults of all ages and abilities who want fitness and competitive swimming.

The Roughies train with the Yarra Triathlon members timetable.
