In the 1990s, amazing community activism saved the pool from closure. Our famous Aqua Profonda sign is heritage listed, honouring our multicultural history, come and check it out for yourself!

Pool capacity on a hot day
On hot days, due to popularity, there is sometimes a queue to get into the pool. This is the result of the aquatic area being at capacity.
Fitzroy Pool has a venue capacity limit of 480, which is in place to maintain the health and safety of all visitors.
Capacity limits, and ratios for the number of lifeguards per people, are determined by the Victorian Government and Life Saving Victoria.
On busy days, when the pool is at capacity, we adopt a 1 person in, 1 person out approach.
