We offer a variety of school swimming programs at Collingwood Leisure Centre, Fitzroy Swimming Pool and Richmond Recreation Centre.
You can hire lanes and run your own swim program or we can design a tailored program to meet your needs. Classes can focus on stroke improvement, water safety and/or water sports.
We also offer group exercise classes and Small Group Training sessions to schools wanting a mixed program with dry and aquatic classes.
How are school programs run?
We're flexible to make swimming lessons work for you and we will find a time within school hours that suits your schedule.
You can have school swimming as a:
- term program (once a week for the length of a term)
- intensive program (8 or 10 school days in a row).
We place students in a class with other participants of a similar ability to ensure they get the most out of their lessons. We will send you a pre-program questionnaire to help streamline the grading process and maximise your lesson time.
At the end of the program, all students receive a certificate highlighting the skills they have developed.
How many students per session?
Each of our pools has capacity for 50 students per session. We provide a minimum of 1 instructor for every 8 students. This ensures all children receive sufficient guidance, feedback and supervision.
How much does school swimming cost?
Our standard cost is $13.90 per student, per 40 minute lesson (GST ex).
Schools may also require one of our program supervisors and we will advise if this is needed and the cost.
A concession fee of $8.30 is available for students who hold a valid healthcare or concession card. A copy of the concession card must be provided.

Lane and venue hire is available at each of our centres with varied rates depending on what you need.
