Going to the gym can be an incredibly rewarding experience - you get to work on your fitness, feel good about yourself, and even meet new people. However, it's important to remember that a gym is a shared space, and so it's essential that we all do our part to ensure that everyone has a positive and safe experience.

Here are some tips on gym etiquette that will help you be a considerate and hygienic gym-goer.

Wear appropriate footwear

When you're at the gym, it's important to wear shoes that are designed for exercise. Gym appropriate footwear helps prevent slips and falls, protects your feet from injury, and is essential for gym hygiene. So, be sure to wear your gym shoes during your workout!

Always use a towel

It's important to bring a towel to the gym and use it. Be sure to place your towel over the bench or seat of the equipment you are using to help keep it clean and hygienic for the next person.

Sanitise equipment after use

It's crucial to wipe down all equipment after you've used it. There are sanitised wipes provided in the gym for this purpose - you only need one. This helps prevent the spread of germs and bacteria and ensures that everyone can have a clean and safe workout.

Be fair and share equipment

If someone is waiting for a piece of equipment you are using, be considerate and share it between sets if possible. This helps keep the gym flow going and ensures everyone gets a chance to use the equipment they need.

Replace weights and other equipment

After using weights or other equipment, be sure to put them back where they belong. This helps keep the gym tidy and ensures that others can easily find what they need.

Don't drop weights

Dropping weights can not only damage the equipment, but it can also be dangerous for others around you. So, always lower weights carefully and gently, and avoid dropping them.

Use lockers for personal items

Instead of leaving your bags and personal items on the gym floor, be sure to use the lockers provided. This helps keep the gym tidy and ensures that your belongings are safe.

Book a gym appointment

We recommend booking a gym appointment before using the gym for the first time, as this helps ensure that you can use the equipment you need. Members with access to the gym can schedule gym appointments as often as once every four weeks.

Ask for help if needed

If you're unsure how to use a particular piece of equipment, don't be afraid to ask one of our friendly gym instructors for help. They'll be more than happy to show you how to use the equipment safely and effectively.

By following these simple tips on gym etiquette, you can help create a welcoming and hygienic environment for all gym-goers!
