Water Safety Week 2018

Yarra Leisure is celebrating Water Safety Week from  3–9 December 2018. We'll be hosting a range of events and activities during the week to provide a timely water safety reminder as we head into the summer months.

Water Safety Week is part of the Victorian Government's 'Play it Safe by the Water' campaign. The campaign aims to reduce the number of drownings in Victoria and raise awareness about water safety.

Our Water Safety Week program provides opportunities for people of all ages to learn to swim and be safe in and around the water. We've got activities for our Learn to Swim students, families, members and friends of Yarra Leisure.

What's on

'Water Safety in Yarra' themed swimming lessons
Every lesson is a water safety lesson, but during Water Safety Week  we'll teach students how to be safe around water in the City of Yarra. Students will learn about the Yarra River and Merri Creek, as well as learn about how to stay safe at home and away on holidays.

'Be an Everyday Lifesaver- emergency response and CPR sessions
Come along to this FREE session and we'll teach you the basics of emergency response around the home. We will also cover the basics of CPR for children and adults.

Living Longer Swimming Stronger
We are inviting members of the community aged 50 years and over for a FREE causal group swimming lesson. We will be covering basic strokes and survival skills.

Women Making Safety Waves
Our Women Making Waves program is a women’s only program encouraging women of all ages, cultures and abilities to attend and participate in learn to swim lessons and general aquatic activities. For Water Safety Week we’ll be hosting water safety themed swimming lessons, special emergency response and CPR session, plus a special visit from Pug the duck!

Meet and greet with Pug the Duck
Pug the Duck is visiting our centres to spread the message of water safety and remind everyone how important it is to play it safe! Pug will be available for meet and greets and a quick photo or two to patrons and customers of the facility on the day.
